We decide to head towards Ialos, ignoring the pleas of the people who came from the Veterans’ Camp.

After some time, we arrive at a town with a windmill, seeming to be Ialos.

We head to the windmill and check out the nearby statue, decorated in colored cloth. A nearby Warforged mentions that they found it beautiful and decorated it in honor of the founder of the town. It mentions The Day of Mourning, when the nation of Cyre was destroyed in a magical holocaust of unknown origins.

We go to talk to Mercy. He mentions that we should be safe, short of the Veterans’ attacking. And followed through on speaking with Treeavenger.

We head over the store room where Treeavenger finds more tapestries to add to his collection. Additionally, we find a half-dozen metal orbs on a shelf. Assumed to be Docents.

After a few moments, Mercy arrives and confirms that they are Docents, and that only one works, fragments of dragon shards. And that Docent are sentient and only Warforged can make them work.

Since they are still unwilling to lend us one, we discuss how we only need it to find the piece of Rod of Seven Parts somewhere in these fields.

We offer to let Mercy inspect the pieces of the Rod of Seven Parts while we rest here, to see if he may be able to ascertain any information about the part we seek.

We spend the night in the mill and speak with Mercy again, who mentions a special colossi who was not powered by a Docent, but a grey matter engine, which may be the Rod part we seek.

He offers to try attuning the Rod piece to the Docent to prove his theory, believing the Docent would be fine, but unsure of the integrity of the Rod piece.

It confirms the direction we need to head, and we warn them about the Veterans we ran into previously, wanting to steal and sell the Docents the Warforged had collected.

We head off to the colossi, Landro.

After some time and setbacks, and strange poisonous aura, we reach the ruined colossus, Landro of Mount Iron Rot.

We head into the cave ahead of us. The grey oily trail continuing into the cavern, and corpses strung about.

We continue onward, finding a split, with one end leading to a door. Treeavenger decides to check the door, hearing a growl beyond it.

Treeavenger opens the door and finds three transformed beings. Cowardly but capable, they try to egg us into drinking the grey oily liquid in the cave.

Treeavenger tries drinking the fluid. It doesn’t seem to kill him, but we end up leaving the creatures to their own devices. A weird experience all around.

As we head forward, we find another split, to our North, we notice a red and blue Warforged, likely Filch that Mercy was looking for.

We are ambushed by 3 Warforged like those that attacked us before from both our North and South.

I strike at the Southern enemy, who then proceeds to speed off into the dark and up the walls. They don’t seem to engage in ordinary combat tactics, but focus instead of hit-and-run maneuvers.

Upon realizing we are in combat, the creatures from the previous room decide to take advantage and join the fray as well.

The Warforged seem to ignore us, while the others try to take advantage. Bardon and Treeavenger are affected by their weird eyes, but I avoid their gaze as best I can.

We finish off the malformed beings, but the Warforged are no where to be found.

Seemingly safe, we take a moment to rest…

Break Time

We check the room where the creatures were again, taking their alcohol, but otherwise not finding much.

Then we check on the Warforged that resembled Filch as Mercy described.

He awakens and we talk to him and let him know about Mercy and their location. He doesn’t offer us much in way of information, but we get him on his way to Mercy.

We decide to take the Southern path. Finding weird shrooms in the path. Treeavenger is not a fan of them and they expel strange green spores and a shrieking noise.

As the noise begins, we head North instead…

Continuing on through the cave system.

We determine that the gems in the fluid are the same dragonshards that adorn a Docent. Treeavenger wants to take some of them with us… and manages to get some.

His arm shrieks at him, though we hear nothing.

The Warforged from earlier attack us again.

The strike me down, though Bardon brings me back. Treeavenger manages to grapple one of them. Though the others continue their retreat.

We finish off the grappled Warforged, though a weird bear enters and tries to attack Bardon. As we finish off the warforged, Bardon makes it into the corridor we are in, and the bear cannot squeeze through.

A spirit calling itself Chandry calls out that its friends are further in and rushes off. Repeatedly. Repeatedly. Repeatedly.

We follow and enter the colossi. It does not, but repeats its path again and again.

After a conversation about tools and how the tables here would let us duplicate my tinker’s tools, we head even more inward…

Another green mist to our North.

Entering the room to the East, though my friends easily entered themselves, I go unconscious…

A few minutes later, Bardon and I regain consciousness outside the room, Treeavenger having dragged us out.

Strange magic going on in that room.

Bardon detects that the area is affected by a persistent silence spell, though he is not aware of what caused us to go unconscious.

After testing the area further, we figure out the green mist is some sort of levitation zone.

We try to go up but just hit the ceiling.

Instead, we try down? And end up somewhere else…

It seems to likely go to one of the legs?

We try the left and end up in the area of the shrieking mushrooms from before.

We return and take the right. It leads to an area with a shattered door of sorts. Treeavenger and Bardon try to break through it.

While they try to bust it open. I find some sort of important seeming gem, and take it.

Nothing really happens, so we head back up. Treeavenger and Bardon try to break into the rubble above us.

It goes poorly and the rubble crushes all of us.

Treeavenger gets big, and Bardon passes through the rubble, while I go unconscious again, with them saving me.

We take a short rest thanks to Bardon’s spell. and Treeavenger did end up opening the path to head further into the machine…
