Tasha pulls out the Book of Vile Darkness and begins to chant spells from inside it.

Alustriel counters Bardon’s spells and strikes him down with a blast, along with significantly harming Treeavenger and me.

I get stunned by Tasha and then bludgeoned by Alustriel. When I came to, thanks to Bardon, we find out that Pash was under the control of Vecna and chanting the mind control spell that affected them both.

With Alustriel and Tasha freed, we go over the plan to reach Vecna. They know where in Pandesmos to find the Cave of Shattered Reflections and can send us on our way there. Tasha is able to cast a spell to rejuvenate us before we head out. Pash is left in a comatose state for now.

We reach the location in question and find… nothing in particular. We need to use our link with Vecna to open the way to the Cave of Shattered Reflections, but how?

I whisper a secret to the wind, the memory of it gone with it. The others do as well, and we all reach the entrance to the Cave of Shattered Reflections.

You appear before a thirty-foot-wide mass of translucent purple crystals embedded in the floor of a large obsidian cavern. Some of the crystal faces reflect distorted images of the cavern, while others flicker with scenes of the lich-god Vecna visiting destruction on distant worlds.

Three tunnels branch off the perimeter of the cavern. Obsidian crystal faces at the entrance to each tunnel show scenes similar to those on the central crystals.

We take the North Eastern path…

We see images of Kas being tormented as the path leads on and on. It seems to be early attempts of Vecna to remake reality.

We eventually find ourselves in the basin of a swampland

Your feet sink into the mucky basin of a sprawling wasteland. The shattered remains of trees, roads, and whole mountain ranges dot the barren landscape. In the distance, a lone castle is silhouetted against the crimson horizon. Two hulking figures wander around the structure.

Unable to make any progress by walking toward the castle proper, we attempt to walk toward the crimson son, and find the castle growing ever closer.

Instead of dealing with the mechanical hulks in the front, we bust through a Southern wall to sneak in.

We take the first door on the left.

The Death Knight seems indifferent to us as we enter the room, with 2 doors on either side of the throne he stands by.

Treeavenger approaches first and opens the right door to reveal a pool of stagnant blood. The pool reflects a scene of Vecna:

You seea glimpse of Vecna conducting his ritual in the Cave of Shattered Reflection. A character who examines the reflection sees Vecna kneeling in a crystal-lined chamber. The lich-god’s eye is closed as he murmurs silent incantations. In his outstretched hand, Vecna holds a volatile, light-consuming orb of magical energy that resembles a black hole.

We all enter and open the next door… and find a version of Kas chained to the wall.

After some accidental tormenting of Kas — Feeding him blood that turned to ash, taking his banners, throwing his sword into the pool of blood. The sword then returning to his body.

I notice the symbol of Vecna on the sword and take it once more. And urge Treeavenger to use the Rod of Seven Parts to erase the symbol with its magic.

The reality shatters and fades as a result and we return to the central chamber, where the crystals are duller than before…

Break Time

Next, the North Eastern path now. And find ourselves entering an alternate Neverwinter

A regal figure clad in menacing spiked armor stands on the balcony of a castle ten feet above the city square. Four sets of gallows are lined up in the center of the square. The armored figure’s features are shrouded in black shadow. Fitted on the figure’s head is a striking golden crown, the front of which is emblazoned with a glowing symbol of Vecna.

Throughout the square, terrified citizens gawk at the king with tearful, disbelieving eyes. Beneath the balcony, twelve armored, desiccated figures stand guard and keep the crowd from advancing any closer.

After a speech and a volley of arrows from the soldiers, Treeavenger teleports us up to the false Lord Neverember and strikes his crown with the Rod of Seven Parts… shattering the illusion.

We head back and take the final path. A colossus in the astral sea appears ahead of us.

You float amid a vast void speckled with distant silvery lights. All around you are the floating remains of enormous stone corpses. Nearby, a monstrous behemoth resembling a horned, serpentine lobster drifts slowly through a patch of debris. The creature groans in agony, its one eye darting around in confusion. Vecna’s unholy symbol glows faintly from within the behemoth’s immense torso.

We head towards it. I manage to avoid its gaze, while the others get caught and swiped at. I sneak past and into its mouth, while Treeavenger and Bardon follow shortly after.

We find its stomach to be a demi-plane. The statue across the valley contains a religious looking statue with the symbol of Vecna emblazoned on it.

As I attempt to cross the sword, and Treeavenger teleports across, 3 strange eyeball-like creatures appear from below.

I let them know that something is shuffling in the rift ahead of us. Treeavenger seems to take that as a sign to head over there and check it out instead of dealing with the eyeballs.

A massive cosmic entity appears from the rift below.

The eyes turn out to be slow and easy to maneuver around. The horror proves to be a much larger issue. Teleporting and grabbing both Treeavenger and Bardon.

After damaging it sufficiently, Treeavenger teleports away from it, while it then teleports into the air and drops Bardon to his near-death.

It escapes and we finish off one eyeball creature, while the last escapes. Unknown what they could even do aside from attempting and failing to bite us.

Since the horror left, the shield around the statue fades away. We head over and Treeavenger breaks the sigil of Vecna — shattering the illusion.

We appear back at the crystal, where it has fully dissipated.

Pash appears, having been healed by Alustriel and Tasha. He spent some time in the hyperbolic time chamber to recover from the effects of his wish spell.

We all head to the bottom of the pit.
